Love Sighthounds? Have a Head for Figures?

Forever Hounds Trust is looking for a dedicated and strategic Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees.

If you believe that every greyhound and lurcher deserves a life free from fear and full of love, and you have the financial expertise to help us sustain that mission, we’d love to hear from you.

The Role

As our Treasurer, you will be the financial compass of the charity. You’ll work closely with the CEO and the Board to ensure our resources are managed effectively, allowing us to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome hounds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Oversight: Guide the Board on financial strategy, reserves policy, and investment decisions.
  • Financial Governance: Ensure the charity maintains robust internal controls and complies with statutory accounting requirements.
  • Budgeting & Reporting: Oversee the presentation of budgets and annual accounts, making financial data accessible to the wider Board.
  • Support: Act as a sounding board for the CEO and finance team.

Who We’re Looking For

You don’t need to be a professional "dog person" (though a soft spot for long noses helps!), but you do need:

  • A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) or part qualified with equivalent financial experience.
  • The ability to communicate complex financial matters to non-experts.
  • A commitment to the vision and values of Forever Hounds Trust.
  • Previous experience in charity finance or as a Trustee is a plus, but we also welcome applications from first-time Trustees with the right professional background.

Why Join Us?

  • Direct Impact: Your expertise ensures we have the funds to provide life-saving veterinary care and behaviour support.
  • Governance Growth: Gain valuable experience at the board level of a well-respected national animal welfare charity.
  • A Paws-itive Community: Join a passionate team of volunteers and staff dedicated to making a difference.

Commitment: Quarterly board meetings (usually held online) and occasional subcommittee meetings. This is a voluntary, unremunerated role, but reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.
