George went home recently! Whilst in our care, this happy, friendly boy loved greeting everyone during his visits to the dog park - human and hound. So, we just knew he’d be a perfect match for his new family which includes two other greyhounds, Dewi and Gyn.
Whenever we home a dog into a family with resident hounds, we always arrange a “meet and greet” to make sure everyone gets along. In George’s case, with three dogs in the mix, we wanted to be extra sure things would work smoothly at home too. So, he initially went home on a foster-to-adopt basis, giving his new family time to feel confident that all the dogs would settle in happily together.
And of course...they did!
The adoption papers are now signed, and George is officially part of his amazing new family in Warwickshire!
But there’s one more update...George is now called Fitzroy! Watch this video to see how he chose his own name!
We have since received this lovely update!
He's settled in beautifully, getting on well with Dewi and Gyn - we've even had the odd cuddle between Gyn and Fitz - probably more by accident than design, but baby steps! He's enjoying going out on his walks with Dewi - and we're enjoying having another dog who can join him out and about.
He's definitely one for cuddles - it's less "if I fits I sits" and more "I sits UNTIL I fits!". A friend described it well when she said "he's the sort of dog who would sit inside you if he could!" Luckily he's quite happy to settle on his bed when we're working and at night, so no worries about him being too clingy. The three of them have also done a few times home alone - they very quickly settled and snoozed the time away.
Many thanks for trusting him with us - he's brought a lot of joy to the family and we hope we've brought him that too.
