Back in May we communicated that the charity had to significantly reduce our expenditure to ensure the survival of the charity. As part of the cost reduction programme we made the decision to consolidate our operations to one site, and reduce our overheads, for the viability of the charity. At that time the only option for us to continue to carry on our important work was to consolidate operations on one site. To do this we wound down the Centre in Devon and moved the dogs to rented spaces in Somerset where we had a longstanding relationship.

We know how disappointing leaving the Centre was - it had been an ambition for a long time. A huge amount of research and hard work had gone into sourcing a suitable premises so having to close the Centre was a significant blow.

After further work on our financial and operational model since then, and consideration to the future impact of Forever Hounds Trust we have made the strategic decision to re-open the Centre in Devon and focus all our operations there. This action means that we will now be operating only from the Centre in Devon for the foreseeable future.

We will be sad to see the end of our kennelling relationship with the team in Somerset and thank them for their support over the years. Looking to the future, the Trustees are continuing to work on a longer-term strategy, and an important part of that will be how we develop all the opportunities the Centre can bring.

We realise for our supporters, volunteers and staff that there has been a significant amount of uncertainty and change this year to secure the long-term future of Forever Hounds Trust. The Trustees and Chief Executive have worked in partnership to make difficult decisions in response to the challenges which many charities, particularly animal welfare organisations, are facing. We are grateful for your continued support.
